Editorial & Transcription Standards
Last updated: September 5, 2026 • Multi-tier curation pipeline to ensure musical precision across every chord row
1 Core Principles of Harmonic Transcription
Every chord chart on ChordGitar.in must satisfy 3 pillars of musical accuracy:
- Studio Pitch Authenticity: Songs are cataloged in the original key of the studio recording, complete with precise Capo position annotations if the original artist utilized a capo.
- Integrated ChordPro Syntax: Chord tags are formatted using standard square bracket syntax (e.g.
[Am] [G] [F]) directly aligned with syllable phonemes to prevent spacing distortion across responsive screen sizes. - Music Theory & Enharmonic Consistency: Accidental spellings (sharp ♯ vs flat ♭) are validated according to the Circle of Fifths of the root key (e.g. Bb and Eb in F Major; F# and C# in D Major).
2 Multi-Tier Verification Pipeline in Our Codebase
Automated heuristic engines validate chord root notes, clean prohibited characters, and resolve text anomalies (such as separating lyric syllables that merged into bracket tags, e.g. healing [GM]enuju back to [G]Menuju).
Algorithmic checks against 24 diatonic keys detect unnatural dissonance, validate harmonic progressions, and ensure chord extensions (such as maj7, sus4, add9, dim) conform to the song structure.
For Audio-Sync enabled songs, line-by-line lyric timestamps are verified against official YouTube recordings to ensure active lyric highlighting scrolls seamlessly like karaoke.
Music moderators play through chord sheets while auditing against master recordings before approving versions and promoting them as verified canonical versions.
3 Dual-Core Architecture Curation Standards
Every song is curated to provide two transcription pathways:
Preserves the full richness of original chords including suspensions, barre chords, and authentic acoustic/jazz voicing.
Restricted to open basic chords (C, G, D, Em, Am) with calculated Capo recommendations so the pitch matches the original recording perfectly.
4 Community Correction & Transparency Policy
Music is an art with multiple valid arrangement interpretations. If you discover a typo in the lyrics or an inaccurate chord change, you can use the "Report Error" or "Submit Correction" button available directly on each song workstation page.
