Matthew Stephen Ward, professionally known as M. Ward, is an American singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist born on October 4, 1973. He is celebrated for his unique fingerpicking guitar style and warm, analog-drenched production that bridges traditional American folk, country-blues, and modern indie rock. In addition to his prolific solo output including celebrated albums like *Transistor Radio* and *Post-War*, Ward gained mainstream acclaim as the musical backbone of the indie pop duo She & Him with Zooey Deschanel, as well as the folk supergroup Monsters of Folk.
