Will Hughes is a British musician, drummer, keyboardist, and music producer celebrated as a core founding member of London-based art-folk and chamber-pop collective Tapir!. Emerging from South London's boundary-pushing independent scene, Hughes helped craft Tapir!'s ambitious multi-media narrative universe exploring folklore, mythology, and acoustic storytelling.
Across their critically acclaimed 2024 debut conceptual album 'The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain' (released on Heavenly Recordings), Hughes's atmospheric drumming, delicate synthesizer soundscapes, and inventive drum-machine programming form the rhythmic spine of standout tracks like 'On a Grassy Knoll (We'll Bow Together)', 'My God', and 'Gymnopédie'.
Tapir!'s enchanting live performances, incorporating papier-mâché masks, acoustic brass, and theatrical staging, have captivated audiences at Green Man Festival, End of the Road, and headline UK tours.
For guitarists and folk musicians, Tapir!'s music offers lush acoustic fingerpicking, warm modal chord changes, and chamber-folk harmonies that are delightful to play on acoustic guitar and piano.
